Trench Convector Installation — Step by Step

Installing a trench (in-floor) convector is planned at the floor design stage. Proper installation ensures efficient heating near panoramic windows and seamless integration into the interior. Let’s look at the main steps and common mistakes.

What to consider before installation

Recess depth — depends on the model and convector output;
Heat carrier supply — supply and return pipes to the heating system;
Drainage — for models near wet areas and pools (Line Pool);
Electrical supply — for fan versions (Line Fan).

Installation steps

Recess preparation. A recess is formed in the screed along the window to fit the housing.
Connection. The convector is connected to the heating circuit and checked for tightness.
Housing installation. The housing is levelled, fixed and insulated from the screed.
Screed and finishing. The finishing screed is poured and a decorative grille is fitted flush with the floor.
Commissioning. Air is bled, operation and control are checked.

Natural or forced convection

Natural-convection models (Heatmann Line) run silently and need no electricity. Fan versions (Line Fan) deliver more output for the same recess size — useful for large glazing.

Common installation mistakes
